I personally don't like the new layout now, but I guess it'll grow on me. I do find all the white space very annoying though. I wish there could be some type of contrast or darker color for the background in the future. Does anybody feel me?

39,199 PointsWhitespace is good for you. It helps chunk the page to make it more scannable and generally increases readabilitiy.
Although interestingly there's some research to suggest that users don't always like what's good for them in particular with line length, they say they like shorter line lengths because they believe it's faster to read in fact that's mere perception.

39,199 PointsThey worked out the color scheme and type contrast with the current background. To come up with a different dark background would require a lot of re-theming to make sure the contrast still worked as well. Also any UX testing done with the current version would have to be duplicated with the dark version.
Then there's the minimalist aspect of the design, light colors are great for scannability as the makes the elements where color is used really pop.

5,697 PointsI absolutely LOVE the new layout. I find it makes it easier too see everything I'm working on at a quick glance, give me a preview of what's to come, and will make it easier to stay on track.
Also, I'm excited by Tommy Morgan's hint about the future enhancement of tracks. Having coherent roadmaps for how to get a grasp on the fundamentals of web development was one of the primary reasons I joined. There is so much to learn, I appreciate a bit of hand-holding for how to work through the content in a systematic way.

23,983 PointsI personally think that the Bonus link should be gold in some fashion. It would catch the users attention and not to mention could ultimately bring more customers to the Gold Plan simply from curiosity of that Shiny Gold Button.
