Some people are natural explorers in the learning process, and as a result can develop some bad habits early on without knowing how damaging it can be in the long run. I taught graphic design for a number of years, and early on I would see students develop these bad habits—seemingly on their own—if I didn't first tell them that what they may be tempted to try was actually a bad idea.
