General Discussion

No longer able to download videos for offline viewing.

Why are the videos no longer available for download (the link has been removed from the "Downloads" section)?

This is an important feature for me, as I normally download the next few videos for offline viewing if I know I'm going to be travelling and therefore without internet access for a while.

Not sure if you are referring to ipad or web but on the web based version you can right click the video and Save video that way. Not sure about ipad though

I'm referring to the web based version.

I wasn't aware you could save the video in that way - I had tried to do so but it previously didn't work because it looks like the video has to be playing for the "Save Video" option to be available.

Still not sure why the videos have been removed from the Download section, but being able to save the .webm file in the way you described is fine for me.

Thanks Adam.

Adam, I too rely on being able to view videos when I'm offline. I work in town but my house is in a very rural location. I was able to download the videos for an HTML course on Dec 3rd, but now I can no longer do so. Right clicking on the video does not provide an option to download anything useful (only .html files). I have tried Safari and Chrome -- Safari on my Mac and Chrome on Windows. If you can offer suggestions on things to try, would you be specific about each step. Thanks.

Update: I just figured out that some of the courses still have the videos available for download when you click the Download button. Others, for example Introduction to Programming by Jim Hoskins, do not. That is the course I'm trying to download before I go out of town. But there are quite a few others that have nothing but a zip file under the Download option.

Hi Charles,

I just tried playing around with this. Kevin was right. As soon as you pause the video, for some reason it makes it so that you can only download an HTML file. If you right click while the video is playing the menu will have an option that says. "Download Video as...", and this is what you will want. So just remember to play the video if you want to download.

Hopefully this fixes things for you!

Adam,

Well, you're absolutely right. I tried that before but I must have been doing it wrong. It is working. Thanks for your prompt reply!

I can download video but how can i download subtitles?

I'm having a hard time finding out how to download the subtitles. Not sure if those are available to download anymore.

Hey Kevin Hewitt, the download links should still appear in the tabbed section below the video. Can you confirm that this is working as expected?

Was this taken out temporarily? Not sure why I didnt see that during my original response.

Kevin, you still need to right click video and do the save as step

I've checked this morning and the download links are now appearing again. I guess it was just a temporary issue.

here it's a little web app I've developer, insert your token select the course and you will get all the download links http://jonathanobino.16mb.com/treehouse/

you can download any video, its in the downloads tab.
