Node js workspace not working

1) i have written some code in app.js

function printMessage(userName, badges, jsPoints) { var message = "The " + userName + " has " + badges+ " badges and "+ jsPoints+" javaScriptoints"; console.log(message); }

printMessage("Rajashekar", 100, 400);

2) then trying to call from console treehouse:~/workspace$ node app.js

3) but getting exception like ReferenceError: printMessage is not defined
