Do i have to learn this course if i want to study node.js?

If you mean on Treehouse rather than anywhere else then yes I would encourage the course on Node that Treehouse offers, yes! It'll start with a basic Node project which will give you all the foundational knowledge to build on! :-)

Treehouse Moderator 91,253 Pointsnode is kind of like an extension to JavaScript and uses many of the principals of core JS so yes I would study the basic courses first. :-)
