What am I doing wrong here?

numstring.py
class NumString:
    def __init__(self, value):
        self.value = str(value)

    def __str__(self):
         return self.value

    def __int__(self):
        return int(self.value)

    def __float__(self):
        return float(self.value)

    def __add__(self, other):
        if '.' in self.value:
            return float(self) + other
        return int(self) + other

    def __radd__(self, other):
        return self + other

    def __iadd__(self, other):
        self.value = self + other
        return self.value
    def __mul__(self, other):
        if '.' in self.value:
            return float(self) * other
        return int(self) * other

    def __rmul__(self, other):
        return self * other

    def __imul__(self, other):
        self.value = self
        return self.value *= other

Your __imul__ function is a bit off.

But there's already an __iadd__ function you can use as a model, just change the math operator.

Thanks Steven. However, it is still not working for me. I tried that before:

def imul(self, other): self.value = self *= other return self.value

Never mind.. I figured it out. Thanks Steven !

I cannot get my imul to work. It is set up exactly as you have it

Look at how the iadd function that is already part of the class is constructed, and do something similar but using different math.
