object oriented unity, unity instance error

After downloading and unzipping the course files, I try to open the scene in unity but it always crashes my graphic driver and then I get the error " another instance of unity is already open with this file..." even though it most definitely is not.....???? I didnt have this drama with the last course that uses the arrow game. Could have something to do with the older version of unity that treehouse uses and trying to open it with the latest version?

Have you tried rebooting?
