What other tools besides the SQL Playground can we use that are geared towards beginners so that we can follow along, similarly to how we can use atom text editor in place of workspaces

A quick Google search found DB Fiddle, but possibly the easiest option is to download & install MAMP (on Mac) or WAMP (on Windows) so you have both MySQL and phpMyAdmin installed on your local machine, which will allow you to create and play with databases all you want in a pretty-friendly GUI interface.

I think in the example he said read these books for extra help.
