Hi

You'll most likely be using a payment gateway, so wouldn't be processing payments directly on your site (there's pretty strict guidelines for sites who want to process payments on site)

I don't know what you mean by accounting records? Most check out systems will save transaction histories etc. Judging by your questions your probably not going to be able to build something yourself, you could use a Wordpress theme and use it alongside woocommerce or a similar plugin.

Personally I dislike WP for commerce sites and your probably better off going with a framework like Magento, you can purchase good Magento themes online if you don't want to build from scratch, then tweak as needed etc

hope that helps

I agree with Sam. If all you want is a eCommerce site, I wouldn't use WP. There are better options for this. I believe Magento and Shopify are the two giants here, and both use themes. Both should also help you easily set up accepting payment online.

But how about Woocomerce?
