General Discussion

Overwhelmed by content

I've been studying programming for about a year now and I've got a solid foundation in HTML/CSS/JS and Java. I've been trying to expand recently but have run into feeling like I'm learning a little about a lot of things. I want to improve and have tried php and android but I do a little before getting overwhelmed. Does anyone have some guidance of finding what you want to do or suggestions given my skill set?

I was also feeling overwhelmed when I finished my first track as I felt I had learned a lot but I wasn't sure "how to start" and "where to go".

Then I started using all the knowledge I learned in real world projects and everything started to fall into place; I started to feel confortable with my knowledge and more importantly I started do identify gaps that had to be filled somehow.

How much have you applied your skills to the real world?
