Parse shut down

I looked at the Parse for android workshop and I was intrigued about the integration and functionality which Parse had to offer. However when I went to go to the Parse website to signup and use their service they had a notice to say they were shutting down next year, to which I was very upset/heartbroken because I was really impressed and happy with the service they had to offer which was everything that I needed for storing data and retrieving them. My question is, is there an alternative to Parse that have the same features or is identical?

I would mainly like to have the features to work with:

  • Login in/out
  • User relationships

I looked at CloudBoost which looked promising but the documentation wasn't fantastic.

Anyone got any suggestions?

A suggested alternative depending on your problems could be Firebase. Nonetheless, it seems to be a good question for Pasan Premaratne, Ben Jakuben, & other mobile development instructors to answer.

Hey Kevin,

Ben Jakuben already opened a thread regarding this which you can find here! :)

 Here is a giant list that you can go through. Also note that the Parse infrastructure is being open sourced . You can possibly still use Parse, just gotta do all the work yourself

Think I have decided to use CloudBoost (https://www.cloudboost.io/quickstart) very similar although I do like firebase but I think cloudboost offer more

Thank you
