Attended my first local creatives meet last week and was introduced to "Perch - The really little content management system".
Worth checking out if you have content which needs editing by the client, but don't want something as heavy as WordPress, and you don't want to allow the client access to the complete site. Watch the intro video on the site and see just how easy it is to add editable areas, using some basic PHP. Also comes with a number of addons/widgets which allow for a number of different options & layouts.
