It seems i am failing to understand the question

index.php
<?php
$name ="Mike";

?>
<p><?php echo $name ="Mike" ?></p>

You should post the question too, but I think that you should remove all the code after $name in the p tag. Because you already set the variable to Mike.

The correct code should be:

<?php
$name ="Mike";
?>

<p><?php echo $name ?></p>

<?php echo $name ?>

Since you set the variable, you can just echo that.

This is what I have inputted and I still get the "Bummer! I am not seeing the word "Mike" in the output. Did you echo something different?" response...

I also tried nesting it in HTML coding

Alright, problem solved...

<?php

$name = "Mike";
echo $name;

?>
