3,849 Pointsphp job in switzerland
I have learnt HTML, CSS, php and php oop, just got started on git but the job market in switzerland is very demanding. I'm getting close to 40 and made that career change about 2 years ago but not seeing much hope yet in finding a job. I'm more focused on the back end development so a portfolio is hard to make as I have nothing fancy to show. I have many experience in IT support but that is not the track I want to follow anymore, I like the creative side and doing something out of web development.
Anybody else in Switzerland can give me some feedback on how to make it happen?

8,712 PointsI'm not in Switzerland, but an idea would be to do some freelancing. That way you can build up a portfolio. The best customers you can get are probably smaller shops - they typically have older websites that need updating.
Just ask them and give them a good price. I've done this for the past 2 years now and I haven't had a problem finding a job that way!
Back-end super-project will be difficult to make, but you can still do the back-end for any websites you do, and maybe a control-panel for the owner to change content easily?
Otherwise just do your own project. Maybe some data-collecting program that displays statistics on a website? Anything really...
