How to get php server running on Ubuntu? Please guide.

The easy way

sudo apt-get install lamp-server^

Check this out XAMPP for Linux There is the guide and download for your local server and also a configuration guide to get it started. After the installation you can use a text editor like Sublime Text 2 to start over. Hope this help you.

I know its probably not the best to link to other websites but I do not wanna explain the entire process...... But for future reference try google first because I typed install apache ubuntu and got this first link ----> https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/serverguide/httpd.html which is a complete guide to setting up a web server. Its pretty straight forward.
