PHP/Laravel or C#/ASP.NET

Hello guys, I'm hoping you can clear some things up for me and leave me in the right direction. I'm taking an asp.net and C sharp course. I hear so many amazing things about PHP and so many amazing things about asp.net and I'm not really sure what direction to take. I like that both ASP. Net and laravel there's the MVC design patterns and Scaffolding. I'm not really sure if I'm hung up on the popularity of PHP or what. I know that PHP has a bigger market share and I know it depends on the areas of the country where it's most needed but in the long run regardless if I'm going to go ahead and do small local sites or even maybe get into a larger company, what is more feasible what is better. I cant get past the idea that ugly sites are made in Asp.net and beautiful sites are mainly made with Php. I KNOW the CSS dictates the beauty of a layout but I cant get past this. I worked in a courthouse in the same team as .Net developers and they had not AN OUNCE of creativity or aesthetics but just functionality. Im afraid that I may end up like one of the these guys. Please help me with this thank you so much
