Please advise what the number counter in the Answer component of the question is for ?

I can see the 'best answer' location but am unclear as the what the purpose of the selectable number is on the top rhs of the answer .

HI. Add a reference or code example (MD) to the Q. It's really hard to help you like this :) because the Q is very general.

Hi Ezra, Thanks for the response but my question has no code element. It refers to the counter in the top right hand corner of the Answer component of a question. I think however i have worked out that it is the 'questioners' assessment/ranking of answers and to what extent it helped to answer the question.

If there are any moderators scanning perhaps, if this is true, some help text could be added to the 'Markdown cheatsheet' to cover this component for newbies like me .

Also for the moderators/. How dos one close a question when the answer is received ?
