What you have on the third line is all you need.

$('.profile-header').hide().delay(2000).fadeIn();

It ends up getting interpreted as:

$('.profile-header').hide();
$('.profile-header').delay(2000);
$('.profile-header').fadeIn();

But is much simpler / cleaner.
