General Discussion

Points on Watched Tutorials

So I have noticed that when you go back and watch tutorials that have already been completed, you don't actually accumulate points. I know this may seem pretty trivial to some, but I think points should be given on each tutorial/video completed.

The whole learning process absolutely requires that you go back and re-learn bits that you have forgotten. And the point system gives you a small sense of accomplishment and more importantly, a good measurement for what you have achieved that day/week/month.

This is obviously not a massive problem, but I think it would certainly add to the general user experience.

Are you suggesting that you get points every time you watch a video? If you watch a video 3 times, you'd get points all 3 times?

I don't know if I agree on that but I do like the idea of incentivizing people to go back and review. I've been learning Spanish with an app on my ipad called Duolingo and they do a thing where when you haven't used a certain skill for a while in their lessons, they mark it as something you need to review and then you know to go back and review it. I like they way they handle it.

Oh definitely, I also use Duolingo for Swedish and find their direction pretty helpful. If you notice with Duolingo, you also get points on each section you complete, no matter how many times you do it.

My general point is that I don't think many people are accumulating points just to get the highest score, they're using it for encouragement to carry on and feel a sense of accomplishment. So I don't think it matters if you get points on each watch. The fact that you're going back and re-learning is surely a good thing and deserved of points.
