Portfolio question

I am currently on the IOS and Android tracks. There are projects where you're working along with the video to create applications such as weather application.

Should I use these projects as part of the portfolio as long as I can explain how it was made or just create my own projects?

I would not use the projects on Treehouse as they are. They are great for learning but on a portfolio they are going to stick out as simplistic.

What you could do is build a project from their examples, and work to add a couple features independent of their examples. Also try and add your own style/interpretation to the project. By doing this I think some Treehouse projects would make great portfolio material that would showcase your understanding.
