I copied your style.css code and ran the challenge for myself pasted your code and it worked for me, so I do not know what could be the issue. Did you change anything in the html file?

I see the problem now, on the very first line you are missing the " /* * before Complete the challenge by writing CSS below. / so it is not properly commented out and it is reading it as code. try adding the "/ " to the first line so

 /* Complete the challenge by writing CSS below */
