Problems when adding text/story to scrollview

I am not sure why, but every time I tried dragging the text/story into the scroll view we made the entire layout would turn white. The only way I was able to make this work was make the background of the scroll view transparent.

In the Text view of 'activity_story.xml' find

'app:layout_constraintLeft_toLeftOf="@+id/storyImageView" ' and change "@+id/storyImageView" to "parent".

That worked for me.
