progress in python

so i began treehouse 2-3 weeks ago and i have completed my first python section on the basic strings and integers. Now im on the lists, tuples, dictionaries etc. However, I understood the guess number game and the shopping list program but i struggled to understand the letter game. Therefore, i completed the letter game but skipped some videos to move on to lists and tuples section. Is it normal to struggle with understanding code at first. Did you personally have trouble and if so, is it ok to skip videos if u do not understand something?
