I'm curious if I'm not alone in wanting this. I'd love to see some courses on using services like the Amazon cloud properly. It seems so easy, yet I know better, and thus I'm hesitant to use the services because I don't want to find myself over my head.
It doesn't have to be specific to AWS, but it seems like a good platform to build off of, plus they offer free micro tiers on many of their services so we could as students follow along and it not cost us anything.
Anyone else feel the same?

Courses Plus Student 6,934 PointsI agree. I took a MOOC course in the past where we had to SSH our code to AWS and it took me more than a couple of tries before I could properly configure my instance and get it to work properly. Not an easy task out of the box, however I would imagine that Treehouse courses could help make the learning curve easier.

Courses Plus Student 9,058 PointsI'd very much like this as some of my plans for personal sites are going to have a lot of data collected and perused

19,452 PointsI would definitely like to see a course for AWS! I'm very confused as to how cloud computing works and what different services AWS has to offer. It seems that a lot of people use s3. I don't know why though...

28,149 PointsBest I can answer is that S3 is super fast and very inexpensive to host and serve assets from like images, downloadable files, etc. And if you're hosting platform has restrictions on storage size (most do) S3 can be a way to avoid that.

19,452 PointsOh cool. Thanks Kevin. I'm definitely going to look into it more.

18,523 PointsI would also love to see this! Some sort of server administration course would be amazing. Treehouse is great for teaching you how to code. But how do you actually deploy your code online and keep it secure? How do I keep my servers up to date and functioning properly? I'm struggling with the AWS documentation right now....it's definitely written for seasoned pros. But what about us poor n00bs?

2,910 PointsI just wanted to add my support for Treehouse AWS courses. As it stands, it seems like I'll have to settle for LinuxAcademy to cover the material instead.
Kevin Korte
28,149 PointsDoes it cost money? Link? This skill is becoming increasing important to me and I don't see it happening soon enough for me here? Thanks for any help Jeremy!
Jeremy Justus
2,910 PointsSorry for the delayed reply, Kevin. LinuxAcademy does have a monthly fee in the same vein as Treehouse. I don't doubt that the Treehouse material will be fantastic once it's released, until then there are several places that offer a course of study. I looked at CloudAcademy, LinuxAcademy, and Udemy; LA seems the most well-rounded of the three.

28,149 PointsThanks Jeremy! I'll be sure to check it out. :) Gotta keep that fire fueled one way or another.

7,189 PointsThis would be a fantastic addition to the available courses on Treehouse. I see more and more job listings asking for AWS experience and knowledge. If it was certification prep, that would be even better! Any updates on this?

20,560 PointsI just sent an email asking for an AWS course. I hope it's something Treehouse is working on now and not something that we're going to see 6 months down the road.
