Purpose of creating the filter label and checkbox with JavaScript?

The teacher never really explains why we are creating this filterLabel and filterCheckbox with JavaScript instead of just adding it to our HTML. Can someone explain why?

Yeah, I was wondering that too. I think it just has to do with the fact that the course is about DOM-manipulation. This way, the teacher demonstrates that there are many ways to accomplish similar goals.
