Question about applying for jobs...

Last week I started applying for front-end positions. I've had some interviews, some rejections, and overall a good process so far. Being in Chicago, I expected a gigantic amount of opportunities, but after applying for positions nonstop through many different websites, it feels like I've applied to them all.

However, looking all over the United States, I obviously find way more openings for exactly what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, I have family obligations and moving out of state is not possible right now.

Is it appropriate for me to suggest I'm looking to work remotely, even if the position isn't specifically offered as a remote opportunity?

I certainly don't see why not. You have nothing to lose by suggesting to work remotely. Millions work remotely, it's nothing they've never heard of before. It's gaining a lot of popularity nowadays. In my opinion, go for it...what's the worst answer you'll get...'no'. Keep us posted & Good Luck!

Chris,

There are several sites that have remote work as their primary function. One that specializes in this is:

https://www.flexjobs.com/

Plus most other job boards/networking sites will have options to look only for remote work.

Best of luck!

Chris,

I would definitely start looking for remote positions.

Here are three sites that primarily show remote job postings:

http://remotive.io/

https://weworkremotely.com/

https://angel.co/jobs

Hope this helps!

Peace, Dewane
