Question about editing themes in Wordpress

I'm currently using the Adamos theme and want to try to remove the sidebar widget and enlarge the layout of the site. It was suggested to create a child theme to do this. When I do I only see the style.css file and none of the other files like the parent theme has. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Jason,

Copy the file you want to edit from the parent to your child theme and make your changes.
