Question about fullstack javascript!

I was thinking about learning the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node) to build applications but its kinda overwhelming learning all that stuff at once, especially with all the different things that comes with React such as Redux,Flux,Floppetyflapp etc etc

So since I wanna start building stuff asap since I have a couple of (pretty simple) ideas, I was thinking to instead pick up jquery for the front end (I already have a good understanding of plain javascript) is this a good idea or am I shooting myself in the foot looking longterm?

jQuery is one of the oldest, most stable and popular javascript libaries out there so I encourage you to delve deep into it if you can! :)
