Question about resolution

Quick Observation (and an important one) - When Chris is zoomed in on the elements in the screen, everything is much more clear (i.e. not grainy) than compare to my screen. This was especially evident during the creation of the alarm clock icon. He was zoomed in at +1000% and his vectors look clear, while mine were very grainy at 800% zoom. Could this be a function of screen size or incorrect settings? Thanks!
