Question about the swaphead function

In the swapHead function, as I understand, the this.characterName is assigned to originalCharacterName so now originalCharacterName is Yoda. The function returns originalCharacterName which is Yoda. So I think It should be Yoda? Does when we assign characterName to this.characterName, originalCharacterName change as well? is it like pointer in C?

There are no pointers in Java, so originalCharacterName does not change as well.

ohh I got it. The function swapHead is actually to return the original character name, not to change this.characterName. Thank you !
