Quick newbie question about floating

Hey guys!

Just wanted to ask you, what's the difference between using float: left; or float: right; on the sidebar in this example? It seems to be the same but I'm not sure. Do I need to float the footer too?

It's working fine, to understand how floats work try changing the content to float right. Also you can check http://learnlayout.com
