Quick question about point system and job experience.

Hello. Thank you for reading my question. I was just wondering if anyone knows the average number of points or amount of time a student should use Treehouse a day in order to have the skills needed for an entry level job in the targeted 6 to 12 months. I know this answer may vary depending on career aspirations so I was wondering if anyone could answer this specifically about web development. Front-end or back-end.

I hope that makes sense. I really appreciate the help. I am just trying to get a manageable schedule down for my learning on Treehouse :)

I try to do 3 badges a day and hit 100 points daily minimum. The honest answer is you don't need any points to get a job and some employers won't even care. However it could help a bunch if you have a lot of points to show. I think once you hit the 15k-20k mark you have a decent understanding of the basics and are well rounded enough for a job. Most people on treehouse do not make it that far and you can get to the top 1% of students right now by reaching about 15k points. Being in the top 1% is something worth sharing with a potential employer.

Thank you for your reply. I think the three badge a day goal will be a good way to start. Thanks again.

Hi Garret!

When your on your profile homepage you can click the link to the leader board and see the percentage of points you have in comparison to other users :)....

In relation to your time frame of 6 to 12 months.. I started last August and am still learning everyday with plenty of practice. I have now began to create my brand and will be looking to launch my personal site by the end of April. In this time I have acquired all my knowledge of wed design from treehouse with the odd blog post and browsing to go with.

I feel confident enough that should I not know the answer to a potential customers question I have good resources that I am familiar with to browse and evaluate for a solution..

I guess what im trying to say is that I feel and from my learning on treehouse that I need to be open to new technologies everyday so the learning will never stop and its more important to understand the environments that can help you most and trust, than to have a dedicated amount of points and time of experience :)...

I hope this makes sense and is in some way helpful...
