quiz improvement suggestions

The quizzes have been great, but could use a little improvement. Quizzes can be a great place to learn something (not just get smacked down for NOT knowing), so adding a few followup features would help.

Can you please add some options if we get an answer wrong? I'd like to see these 3: 1) Hint, 2) Retry, 3) See the Answer. Maybe set up a point system where we can "spend" a certain number of points to "See the Answer".

Otherwise, nicely run platform!

Great idea. Some well-formulated hidden hints of some kind!

Yeah, I definitely like the idea of putting a message for why the chosen answer is wrong, rather than just saying it is wrong. :)

Thanks for the feedback Anne Lupton. We've made some improvements like this for Code Challenges but not for Quizzes yet. Unfortunately the things you're asking for aren't planned for Quizzes right now. Sorry :(

Thanks for being a Treehouse Student!

Cheers, Ryan

Hi Ryan, I think I speak for many people when I say that I hope these improvements are made to quizzes in the near future. I really like the suggestions Anne posted above. The most important part for me is seeing the correct answer after I fail it. Its very frustrating to continually not know what the answer is, especially after I've watched the correlating video a few times and still cannot figure it out. Id like to see the answer in two ways, once after i get in incorrect, and also again at the end of the quiz, in some sort of recap or summary page of the questions i got wrong, followed by the answer I choose, and then the correct answer.

Also, this could be just a browser problem, I'm not sure, currently using the most updated version of Chrome, however during a quiz when i click the rewatch video option, it redirects my quiz page to the video page, causing me to lose all progress on the quiz. It would be nice if this video would automatically open in a new tab rather than me having to remember to manually right click on it and hit open in new tab.

Thanks,

Kyle

Hey Kyle Binger

Thanks for taking the time to share your frustrations. I don't know if you've seen it, but we do offer quiz hints on most content created in the last 6 months (as you can see above in the Swift Basics course). I just checked your most recently taken course, Wordpress Codex, and you're right that it doesn't include hints, though . This is a good push for us to go back through our Quizzes and make sure all of them use this new feature. Thanks!

As for your and others' ideas around Quizzes, we hear you. We have some big changes for Code Challenges and Quizzes on the roadmap that'll we think you'll really enjoy.

Also, I'll personally look into making the "Review Video" button less frustrating to use.

Thanks so much for your feedback, and stay tuned! :zap:

Hi Kyle,

Thanks so much for your quick response and info. I was unaware that quizzes in the last 6 months had features like that, so thanks very much for that info.

glad to hear there are big changes on they way, and thanks for personally looking into the Review Button.

Staff such as yourself are what helps keep treehouse so great.

Cheers,

Kyle
