JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Random Number Challenge

randomNumber is undefined error in console. not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

Here is my code:

function getRandomNumber(upper, lower) { var randomNumber = Math.floor(Math.random() * (upper - lower + 1)) + lower; return randomNumber; }

getRandomNumber(100, 50); alert(randomNumber);

:point_right: Your randomNumber variable only exists inside the function.

But the function returns it, so you can display it this way:

alert(getRandomNumber(100, 50));

Thanks, Steven! I knew I was missing something simple, but I couldn't see it.
