react-native command not found.

Ran npm install and attempted installing react-native-cli a second time, based on some other forum posts, but I just get react-native: command not found

Any ideas?

edit: react-native-cli has worked, but now all I get is "FAILURE: Build failed with an exception. What went wrong: A problem occurred configuring project ':app'. SDK location not found. Define location with sdk.dir in the local.properties file or with an ANDROID_HOME environment variable."

which is also unhelpful. Can I also point out that none of these instructions are in the video at all?

edit: I have searched and now installed Android studio, which at over 1000mb seems overkill just to follow a tutorial. I also don't want another IDE; can't I continue using VSCode? Also, why is none of this in the video?
