Ruby on Rails problem install json Windows 7

$ gem install json
Temporarly enhancing PATH to include DevKit....
Building native extensions. This could take a while......
ERROR: error installing json:
               ERROR: failed to build gem native extension.

Hey Tony McCabe are you trying to follow

It's generally considered poor form to make a forum post that is just a block of code.

Here a few things to include:

  • What Treehouse video (if any) are you trying to follow
  • What did you type in to get the error
  • What have you tried to fix the issue

Any time you get an error the first thing you should do is try to Google the error, give that a shot for a about 30 minutes before asking for help.

Google has informed me that you need to install DevKit to compile Ruby gems on Windows

P.S. - It was the 2nd link on Goolge for the search string of failed to build gem native extension json windows

In fact, I love Treehouse.com, because its like going to school for dirt cheap. You also have all the support from you guy's to help those who are seriously interested in chaging careers, or just trying to develop a hobby. Most importantly, I had the funds I would invest in your business. You guy's are great and very helpful. Just keep at it!
