Ruby on Rails vs word press?

Let me throw a question at ya! Which would be more likely to land me a job? Rails or Word Press? I did a quick search on my local Craigslist jobs board and neither came back with any results..... :(

Hey Daniel! I'm sorry neither are showing up in your area! I think knowing either one would be very helpful for landing a job. Maybe try some other job boards, as well as try finding jobs that would allow you to work remotely. I see Word Press and Rails jobs all the time, but I live in the SF Bay Area, not Knoxville. I think with Word Press you could possibly find more remote jobs, thus allowing you to stay where you are.

Personally, I think the more important question to ask is which one will allow you to do the type of work you want to do. For example, WordPress would be better for smaller sites while Ruby on Rails would be better for large web applications. So if you focused on WordPress you might be looking for freelance jobs with small businesses, for instance. While if you focused on Ruby on Rails, you might be looking for a full time position at a larger company or possibly a startup. Both are great - just depends on what you want to do.
