Ruby Videos make me sleepy

I am not sure if this is a question or a gripe. I started with HTML and CSS and Nick Petit's lively videos made learning fun and easy. Even Guil's videos were good. But since coming to Ruby, learning has become a drag. The videos just put me to sleep.

I took a break for a month and found that I picked up more on codecademy and rubymonk. I came back on Treehouse yesterday as I like the the tracks feature but it seems like a mistake.

I cant follow along with the videos, Half the time I cant understand what is happening. If I have to pause continously and check on the net for explanation of what is happening, it gets too tedius.

I searched on the net and found a lot of reviews that said that beginners in coding can start with Ruby but I am finding Ruby too difficult at treehouse.

My goal was RoR and now I see that it has the same instructor, I cant decide whether I should stick around or not.

Would it be better if I tackle some other language before coming to Ruby, if so which language will be good for beginner.
