Courses Plus Student 862 Pointssafari won't let me open developer tools. please help
I used the shortcuts below the video and it just pulls up an index of introductions to the timelines and debugger drop down menus etc.

I don't often use Safari, especially for any development. Unless you are limited for some reason in doing so, I would strongly recommend downloading and using Chrome for anything Web Development related. You will find that pretty much every course taught (especially here on Treehouse) the instructors will be using Chrome.
If you need to use Safari, you will need to enable the Develop menu in Safari's Advanced Preferences. You can see how on Apple's Developer Site.
