Sass exception for footer <a> tag that needs to be purple

I'm about frustrated with this question. I've searched online and through the forums about what the answer could be.

In addition to the code shown here, I've also tried: & .footer { .footer & & div.footer {

From what I understand of the lesson video, the correct answer should be .footer &. I tried including the divs from what I've seen of other posts and answers. I'm really trying to figure out what I did wrong, but it seems like I'm doing everything right and still nothing is happening.

I forgot the code I just copied it from yours you were missing the &:hover inside >a and maybe a space between & and {

I don't know why but the hover code I put in the original post worked every time I did the challenge. Once you answered, it stopped working and I put in what you wrote.
