Does anybody know of a free screen casting app for a mac? Default or needing download a fine.

28,888 PointsCaleb, you can actually just use QuickTime, which comes preinstalled. Go to File and then select New Screen Recording.

180 PointsTim had a good answer but if you need to record computer audio, you will need to use a program called soundflower. It takes computer audio and turns in into a virtual audio device. Select soundflower 2ch or 64ch instead of a mic in quicktime. You can find soundflower here: https://rogueamoeba.com/freebies/soundflower/
