SEO: Should a Meta Description contain price?

Is it beneficial to a retail company to include a competitive price in their meta description?

The main use for the meta description tag is to display a short description of the page (in your case product) when someone does a search or your site is shared through some social media. Simple ask yourself, is it important for the price to appear in these cases? Will the price being displayed make someone want to go to the page or not want to go to the page? You can put the price in the meta description on some of the pages and use analytics to track the results.
