I am assuming you are on a Mac, and I am assuming you are on a current version of OS X.

You need to kill the default Apache server that is running and start your own. - https://support.servertastic.com/mamp-not-starting-after-upgrade-to-mountain-lion/

In the terminal type 'sudo apachectl stop' to stop OSX's built-in apache server, so MAMP's can run.

This won't do anything to your operating system or programs, just lets the MAMP version of Apache run instead.

And just for future reference make sure you give lots of info in your question so people can help you more. Like what kind of computer, operating system, what you already tried etc. Good luck!

This solution applies to Maverick as well. Thanks!
