Server returns status 500

I have included from django.contrib.staticfiles.urls import staticfiles_urlpatterns and urlpatterns += staticfiles_urlpatterns() to my urls.py Added STATICFILES_DIRS = ( os.path.join(BASE_DIR, 'assets') )

my layout.html looks like

{% load static from staticfiles %}


<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <meta charset="utf-8">
        <title>{% block title %} {% endblock %}</title>
        <link rel='stylesheet' href='{% static "style/main.css" %}'
    </head>
    <body>
        {% block content %} {% endblock %}
    </body>

but in terminal server returns status 500 GET /static/style/main.css HTTP/1.1" 500 59

What can be wrong?
