SessionFactory vs CrudRepository

In the hibernate-course there is no mentioning of CrudRepository.

If I wanted to build a simple REST API with spring and hibernate. Would I even need a SessionFactory if I have several DAO-interfaces that extends the CrudRepository interface?

The Hibernate Basic source only covers Hibernate itself, not integrating it with other frameworks. The Spring with Hibernate course is scheduled to come out later this month.
