Set the class of panel to the newParagraph.

HOW TO SET THE CLASS TO THE APPENDED CHILD

contentDiv.appendChild(newParagraph);

The simplest way would be to assign the className property of newParagraph.

newParagraph.className = "panel";

I did this, but it told me I didn't set the classname to the property on the paragraph element

Then there must be some other issue. Start your own question and show all of your code (or if you use the "Get Help" button it should add the code to the question for you).

Now it's working well, newParagraph.className = "panel";
