Android Build an Interactive Story App (Retired) User Input Getting Text from an EditText

Set the petName variable to the value from this EditText.

Am I leaving something out?

String petName = new String petNameField();

EditText petNameField = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.petNameField);

String petName= petNameField.getText().toString();

You need to get a text from editText.
