Setting hierarchy for the activities

I want to have my min sdk as 14 but if I add hierarchy when creating the activities it creates this in the manifest.xml:

android:parentActivityName

wich requires a min sdk of 16, is it possible to go around this like implementing other parameters elsewhere to have this good for sdk 14?
