Setting up AWS for portfolio website hosing.

Hello,

I've used various hosting providers before, but today I decided to move my portfolio website to aws. I did my initial research and it appears that there are a lot of things that need to be set up by user as opposed to standard hosting, things like elastic ip's, protocols etc..

This is all new to me and I am not able to figure it out, even googling doesn't provide much info.

I absolutely love treehouse for extremely good explanations of things and would like to ask you guys for a simple getting started with aws explanation. e.g. what needs to be done in order to set it up for hosting of simple website (php for back end).

Is there a chance to get a video answer? I'm asking because I believe treehouse is powered by aws, so you guys should be familiar with it.

Thank you.

Why are you going with AWS for a portfolio site?

Christopher Mell several reasons which are not directly related to resources offered by aws. Portfolio is just a start, I'd like to learn aws no matter what and thought this would be a good start. Afterward, peaces I feature in my portfolio will likely require services like s3 a some are very heavy in file size.
