Should we skip this lesson if we are using GoDaddy?

Alena Holligan: Do we need SMTP if we are using GoDaddy? Or should we skip this part of the lesson?

GoDaddy does not use a separate email server if email is set-up thru cPanel.

It depends on what GoDaddy has. I had used GoDaddy somewhere in the last decade and back at that time, it didn't have any good options for those who have experience with programming and how to DIY your hosting. At that time, it seemed that GoDaddy was making it more easier for those who had no or little experience with building a website.

I'm unsure if that is the deal today, I'm guessing so. I prefer a host that allows a salty veteran like me in web development more options.
